Quick Charge juga bisa disebut dengan nama fast charging, turbo charging, adaptive fast charging, rapid charging, atau Qualcomm Quick Charge. Pada dasarnya semua charger yang ditawarkan sama, asalkan sudah mendapat lisensi resmi dari Qualcomm QC. Qualcomm sendiri telah merilis teknologi Quick Charge dari versi 1, versi 2, dan versi 3.
Qualcomm Quick Charge versi 1 (QC 1.0)
Qualcomm Quick Charge versi 1 (QC 1) mulai dikembangkan untuk produk smartphone sejak tahun 2013 hingga 2014. Beberapa diantaranya yang memiliki fitur QC 1 ini antaralain, yaitu Galaxy S5, Note 3, generasi pertama MotoX, Nexus 5 dan beberapa merek lain. Quick Charger 1.0 menggunakan voltase 5V, dan maksimum power hingga 10W.
Qualcomm Quick Charge versi 2 (QC 2.0)
Mulai tahun 2014 hingga sekarang Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 mulai ditanamkan ke berbagai smartphone yang menggunakan prosesor Qualcomm Snapdragon 600, 200, 400, 410, 615, 800, 801, 805 dan 810 terbaru seperti Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, Note 4, Note Edge, LG G4, One M8, M9, Asus ZenFone 2, Moto X 2014, Nexus 6, Droid Turbo dan model lainnya.
Quick Charger 2.0 dapat mengisi baterai hingga 50% dalam waktu 30 menit. Quick Charger menggunakan voltase berbeda, dengan charger biasa mengunakan 5V, sedangkan Quick Charger 2.0 memiliki output voltase lebih tinggi dari 5V, 9V, 12V dan 20V dengan Current 2 Ampere.
Qualcomm Quick Charge versi 3 (QC 3.0)
Pada tahun 2015 yang lalu, Qualcomm memperkenalkan Quick Charge 3.0. Qualcomm mengklaim bahwa pengisian dayanya 4x lebih cepat dibandingkan proses pengisian daya biasa, dan Quick Charge 3.0 lebih cepat 2x dibandingkan Quick Charge 1.0. Serta 38% lebih cepat dibandingkan dengan Quick Charge 2.0. Dengan hasil seperti itu, maka kamu dapat menggunakan smartphone lebih cepat dan menunggu lebih sedikit.
Generasi terbaru Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 ini memungkinkan untuk mengisi baterai smartphone dari 0 sampai 80 persen hanya dalam waktu 35 menit. Dibandingkan dengan perangkat handphone konvensional tanpa Quick Charge yang mungkin membutuhkan pengisian baterai sekitar dua jam lebih.
Kemampuan lain yang dimiliki Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, yaitu fleksibilitas terhadap tegangan listrik. Jika Quick Charge 2.0 menawarkan empat pilihan pengisian pada tingkat tegangan di 5V, 9V, 12V dan 20V, Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 menyediakan fleksibilitas melalui peningkatan sebesar 200mV secara bertahap dimulai dari 3.6V hingga 20V. Ini memungkinkan smartphone untuk mendapatkan tingkat arus tegangan listrik yang sesuai sehingga transfer daya dan penurunan power lebih optimal.
Pada Quick Charge 3.0, Qualcomm membenamkan fitur INOV (Intelligent Negotiation for Optimum Voltage). INOV merupakan sebuah algoritma yang dapat mengetahui level tenaga yang di minta dari waktu ke waktu. Dengan begitu, transfer daya listrik dapat dioptimalkan.
Selain itu, algoritma ini dapat mengatur jumlah voltasenya secara dinamis. Peningkatannya yaitu 200 sesuai keadaan dari baterai dan charger. Dengan cara ini, pengisian daya menjadi lebih cepat dan rentang voltasenya bisa dari 3.6V hingga 20V tergantung keadaan baterai dan charger.
Quick Charge 3.0 akan mendukung pada perangkat-perangkat smartphone yang menggunakan SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon terbaru, termasuk diantaranya Snapdragon 820, 620, 618, 617 dan 430. Quick Charge 3.0 memberikan fleksibilitas dengan kenaikan 200mV dari 3.6V ke 20V. Pastinya Qualcomm akan merilis prosesor lainnya yang akan mendukung teknologi ini.
