Apa itu Quick Charge 3.0
Quick Charge 3.0 merupakan teknologi generasi ketiga dari Qualcomm untuk pengisian daya baterai gadget dengan lebih cepat dari charger biasa atau generasi quick charge sebelumnya. Quick Charge 3.0 diperkenalkan oleh Qualcomm pada tahun 2015 lalu. Qualcomm sendiri adalah salah satu pabrikan yang menawarkan solusi fast charging alias pengisian baterai gadget secara cepat lewat teknologi besutanya.
Qualcomm mengklaim bahwa Quick Charge 3,0 menawarkan peningkatan hingga empat kali lipat dalam masalah pengisian daya jika dibandingkan dengan charger konvensional, dan 2 kali lebih cepat dibandingkan Quick Charge 1.0. Serta 38% lebih cepat dibandingkan dengan Quick Charge 2.0.
Generasi ketiga Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 ini memungkinkan untuk mengisi baterai smartphone dari 0 sampai 80 persen hanya dalam waktu 35 menit. Dibandingkan dengan perangkat handphone konvensional tanpa Quick Charge yang mungkin membutuhkan pengisian baterai sekitar dua jam lebih.
Dengan hasil seperti itu, maka peningkatan efisiensi dalam pengisian daya baterai semakin baik. Kamu dapat menggunakan smartphone lebih cepat dan menunggu lebih sedikit.
Bagaimana Cara Kerja Quick Charge 3.0?
Sebelum kita sama-sama membahas mengenai teknologi ini, ada baiknya Anda harus mengetahui beberapa fakta dari baterai yang dipakai oleh seluruh smartphone. Baterai akan meledak jika diisi daya dengan konfigurasi yang salah, misalnya saja pengisian dengan daya yang berlebih. Fakta lainnya juga adalah umur baterai akan cepat berkurang jika pengisian dayanya terlalu cepat.
Lalu, bagaimana Qualcomm menjawab fakta-fakta ini? Agar pengisian daya smartphone lebih cepat, Qualcomm menggunakan berbagai cara di teknologi Quick Charge-nya ini.
Yang pertama adalah Quick Charge mengambil daya lebih besar dibandingkan dengan teknologi pengisian daya yang besar, namun tidak menimbulkan efek berkurangnya masa pakai baterai. Hal ini dapat terjadi, karena Quick Charge dapat mengurangi daya yang hilang pada saat pengisian daya, sehingga pengisian dayanya lebih efisien. Contohnya saja pada Quick Charge 2.0, daya yang dapat diambil secara default adalah 3A. Namun, Anda harus menggunakan charger yang sudah mendukung teknologi ini agar Quick Charge dapat bekerja. Jika Anda menggunakan charger konvensional, maka smartphone secara otomatis menurunkan konsumsi dayanya hanya sekitar 2A saja, sehingga baterai smartphone anda tetap aman.
Kedua, khusus untuk Quick Charge 3.0, Qualcomm membenamkan fitur Intelligent Negotiation for Optimum Voltage (INOV). INOV merupakan sebuah algoritma yang dapat mengetahui level tenaga yang di minta dari waktu ke waktu, dan dapat mengatur jumlah voltasenya secara dinamis. Dengan begitu, transfer daya listrik dapat dioptimalkan dan rentang voltasenya bisa dari 3.6V hingga 20V tergantung keadaan baterai dan charger.
Kemampuan lain yang dimiliki Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, yaitu fleksibilitas terhadap tegangan listrik. Jika Quick Charge 2.0 menawarkan empat pilihan pengisian pada tingkat tegangan di 5V, 9V, 12V dan 20V, Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 menyediakan fleksibilitas melalui peningkatan sebesar 200mV secara bertahap dimulai dari 3.6V hingga 20V. Ini memungkinkan smartphone untuk mendapatkan tingkat arus tegangan listrik yang sesuai sehingga transfer daya dan penurunan power lebih optimal.
Dibanding teknologi terdahulu, Quick Charge 3.0 menawarkan kelebihan utama berupa penggunaan daya yang 20% lebih efisien dibandingkan teknologi sebelummya (Quick Charge 2.0).
Penggunaan daya yang lebih efisien pada Quick Charge 3.0 ini diklaim turut menurunkan suhu perangkat sehingga tidak lagi terasa panas seperti yang terjadi pada teknologi terdahulu.
Qualcomm mengklaim daya yang terbuang menjadi panas 40% lebih sedikit dibanding Quick Charge 2.0.
Apa rahasianya? Teknologi Quick Charge 3.0 lebih pintar. Dibandingkan Quick Charge 2.0 yang langsung menaikkan voltase dari 5 volt standar menjadi 9 volt, Quick Charge 3.0 lebih pintar karena menyesuaikan peningkatan voltase dengan daya maksimal yang bisa ditampung oleh baterai perangkat.
Quick Charge 3.0 ini bisa dipakai untuk mengisi baterai perangkat dengan kecepatan yang sama dengan Quick Charge 2.0, tapi suhu perangkat akan lebih dingin. Bisa juga diatur agar mengisi daya lebih cepat dengan suhu yang sama.
Teknologi Quick Charge 3.0 kompatibel dengan beragam tipe konektor pengisi daya yang beredar di pasaran, mulai dari micro-USB yang biasa dipakai dan tersedia luas, hingga USB Type-C terbaru. Tentu, perangkat gadget dan charger yang bersangkutan harus mendukung sarana fast charging tersebut.
Fitur Baru di Quick Charge 3.0
Fitur baru unggulan dari Quick Charge 3.0 adalah INOV (Intelligent Negotiation for Optimum Voltage), yang mana akan memungkinkan untuk penyetelan output daya yang diperhalus dan siklus pengisian daya yang lebih dioptimalkan. Perlu diketahui, baterai yang berbeda membutuhkan tegangan pengisian yang berbeda pula. Kalau versi 2.0 mendukung empat model di berbagai tingkatan daya, yakni opsi 5 volts/2 Ampere, 9V/2A, 12V/1.67A, dan 20 volt, maka untuk versi 3.0 dengan fitur INOV nya bisa berkomunikasi dengan perangkat untuk meminta setiap tegangan yang berada pada rentang antara 3.2 V hingga 20V dengan kelipatan 200mV, memungkinkan untuk pilihan tegangan yang jauh lebih luas.
INOV juga memiliki manfaat tambahan yakni mampu secara dinamis menyesuaikan tegangan pengisian selama siklus pengisian baterai. Seiring bertambahnya daya baterai, maka secara perlahan akan mengurangi tegangan sedikit demi sedikit, itulah yang menjadi alasan mengapa diperlukan waktu yang lebih lama untuk mengisi 20 % terakhir daya baterai dibanding awal pengisian. Qualcomm menyatakan bahwa teknologi baru tersebut memungkinkan ponsel untuk hanya meminta tegangan secukupnya untuk mencapai arus pengisian yang diinginkan, sehingga memaksimalkan efisiensi.
Hal ini berguna karena bisa mengurangi jumlah energi yang terbuang saat pengisian. Sebelumnya, kelebihan daya yang tidak digunakan untuk mengisi baterai akan menghilang sebagai panas, sehingga membuat ponselmu menghangat, dan mengurangi usia baterai. Dengan mengerahkan lebih banyak kontrol atas efisiensi pengisian, maka daya yang terbuang akan lebih kecil, sehingga lebih sedikit menghasilkan panas. Qualcomm menyatakan bahwa versi 3.0 bisa hingga 38% lebih efisien daripada versi 2,0, yang merupakan penghematan energi yang cukup besar. Efisiensi energi ini merupakan benar-benar fitur baru utama yang ditawarkan oleh Quick Charge 3.0, namun ini juga masih sangat penting karena baterai yang lebih dingin akan bertahan lebih lama daripada yang panas.
Quick Charge 3.0 juga memungkinkan untuk dibuatnya satu charger untuk banyak perangkat, seperti ponsel, tablet, juga laptop. Hal tersebut bisa terjadi jika Quick Charge 3.0 digabungkan dengan USB-type C yang sudah digunakan di beberapa jenis perangkat.

Ya, tidak semua smartphone mendukung teknologi ini dan semuanya tergantung dari prosesor Qualcomm yang dipakai di smartphone Anda.
Quick Charge 3.0 akan mendukung pada perangkat-perangkat smartphone yang menggunakan SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon terbaru, termasuk diantaranya Snapdragon 820, 620, 618, 617, 625, 430 dan 435.Quick Charge 3.0 memberikan fleksibilitas dengan kenaikan 200mV dari 3.6V ke 20V.Pastinya Qualcomm akan merilis prosesor lainnya yang akan mendukung teknologi ini.
